Senior Staff Attorney, Insurance Defense

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee a portfolio of various insurance defense cases from their initiation to trial or other forms of resolution.

• Evaluate substantive and procedural matters; perform comprehensive legal research; and devise sound defense strategies.

• Draft and reply to pleadings, written discovery, dispositive motions, and briefs with minimal oversight.

• Conduct and defend depositions; collaborate with experts; and prepare witnesses for their testimonies.

• Advocate for clients in trials, judicial hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes.

• Offer timely, practical legal counsel and evaluations on liability and damages to Claims and insured partners.

• Maintain effective communication with courts, opposing counsel, witnesses, and co-counsel in accordance with office protocols.

• Ensure swift and efficient resolution of assigned cases while upholding high standards of quality and customer service.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law institution.

• Reside in California and possess an active license to practice law there.

• Capability to appear in relevant local state and federal courts.

• Member in good standing of the relevant Bar Association.

• A minimum of 7 years of pertinent litigation experience, particularly in insurance defense and complex tort cases.

• Proven first-chair jury trial and/or appellate experience is preferred.

• Excellent skills in legal writing, research, and persuasive advocacy.

• Demonstrated capacity to manage a caseload autonomously.

• Strong knowledge of Southern California courts and their local practices.

• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines and thrive in a technology-driven environment.
