Senior Specialist – Offensive Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Conduct both scoped and open-ended evaluations on systems that are either internal or external facing.

• Engage in threat and vulnerability research to discover innovative approaches that support the program's objectives and serve as a source of creativity within the cybersecurity sector.

• Support the sales process by working with prospective or current clients and serve as the primary program liaison for projects executed by Cyber Advisors’ Offensive Security team.

• Create and implement tools that facilitate the execution of security assessments, including custom solutions and automation.

• Collaborate with the customer Blue Team to identify vulnerabilities, address findings, and enhance breach response capabilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience conducting network and application security assessments and/or participating in red team engagements.

• Previous experience must encompass one or more of the following:

• Performing application and/or network penetration tests.

• Conducting Red Team or Offensive Security evaluations.

• Collaborating effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders (security consultants, project managers, service managers, development teams, technical SMEs, vendors) to deliver high-quality assessments.

• Proficient understanding and experience with several of the following:

• Networking fundamentals (all OSI layers, protocols, etc.).

• Operating systems including Windows/Linux/Unix.

• Vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques related to operating systems and software.

• Vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques for web and mobile applications.

• Techniques for malware packing, obfuscation, persistence, and exfiltration.

• Security technologies such as Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Web Proxies, and DLP, among others.

• Commercial or open-source offensive security tools for reconnaissance, scanning, exploitation, and post-exploitation (e.g., Nmap, Nessus, Metasploit, Burp Suite, etc.).

• Project Management skills.

• Proven team-oriented interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to interact effectively with upper management, IT leadership, and technology vendors.

• Capability to collaborate and foster positive relationships among multiple stakeholders.

• Agile thinking and analytical skills that promote win-win and innovative solutions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Composure and clarity of thought under pressure, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

• Ability to prepare and present project concepts and proposals to senior management.

• Openness to working non-standard hours if required.
