Senior Solutions Architect, AI – Core DevOps

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Act as the AI subject matter expert for GitLab in core DevOps, providing technical insights and practical advice during both customer and internal discussions.

• Collaborate with clients and field teams to align AI use cases with real challenges in the software development lifecycle, proposing solutions that enhance developer productivity, delivery speed, or operational reliability.

• Create and disseminate informed views on the future of AI in software development, including innovative concepts like more automated delivery workflows.

• Work with product-aligned teams to ensure that your area of expertise aligns with how GitLab develops and enhances its platform capabilities.

• Assess and discuss architectural tradeoffs, such as monolithic versus microservices and monorepos versus polyrepos, in relation to AI-driven development.

• Utilize hands-on experience with contemporary DevOps tools and automation—such as continuous integration and continuous delivery—to guide strategic conversations.

• Collaborate asynchronously with colleagues across different regions to share insights, align recommendations, and advance customer and product initiatives.

• Foster a streamlined culture of interviews and collaboration that prioritizes clear communication, iterative processes, and tangible outcomes.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in software development, DevOps, platform engineering, solutions architecture, or a related technical discipline.

• Strong interest and hands-on involvement in understanding how AI transforms the software development lifecycle, particularly within core DevOps workflows.

• Solid technical grounding in modern software delivery practices, including automation, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and cloud-native or platform-focused environments.

• Ability to thoughtfully discuss architectural and operational tradeoffs, including Kubernetes, monolithic versus microservices architectures, and monorepo versus polyrepo strategies.

• Experience in guiding technical strategy with clients, internal stakeholders, or engineering teams in a practical manner rather than a purely theoretical one.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

• Capability to work efficiently with minimal oversight as a self-managed individual in a remote, asynchronous setting while remaining closely aligned with a global team.

• Willingness to consider candidates from various backgrounds, including practitioners, senior solutions architects, or technical experts with transferable skills in AI and DevSecOps.
