This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +3 more states.
• Perform hazard and safety analyses on software related to perception, motion planning, localization, and vehicle control modules according to ISO 26262-6 and SOTIF (ISO 21448).
• Carry out software FMEA/FTA, freedom-from-interference (FFI) analysis, and evaluations of hazards at the code level.
• Establish Software Safety Requirements (SSRs) and define monitoring and fail-safe mechanisms within multi-core and Linux/RTOS software frameworks.
• Collaborate with development teams to review safety-critical C++/Python code and robotics middleware, ensuring compliance with software safety standards.
• Create Safety Performance Indicators to track and assess safety performance over time.
• A minimum of 5 years of practical safety engineering experience in autonomous vehicles, automotive (ISO 26262), aerospace (DO-178C/DO-254), or industrial safety (IEC 61508).
• Previous experience with autonomous driving systems or mobile robotics is essential.
• Demonstrated capacity to operate under the technical guidance of a Principal Safety Engineer within a fast-paced agile engineering environment.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of software development or software safety experience in C++, Python, or ROS/ROS2 environments.
• In-depth knowledge of software safety lifecycles, ASIL decomposition for software, unit and integration testing strategies, and static analysis tools.
• Practical experience in analyzing software pipelines for autonomous vehicles, including perception, planning, and fail-safe state machines.
