Senior Software Engineer, WebExtensions

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Implement and uphold WebExtensions APIs and Addon Management, ensuring a balance between power, safety, performance, and user interfaces within Firefox.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting extensions in Firefox.

• Work collaboratively with product managers, QA, and the AMO engineering team to deliver features from start to finish.

• Contribute to extensions owned by Mozilla and system add-ons.

• Engage in open source practices: code reviews, pull requests, and discussions on Bugzilla/GitHub.

• Assist extension developers by diagnosing issues and enhancing tooling/documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience in software development.

• Strong expertise in JavaScript, DOM APIs, HTML, and CSS.

• Understanding of modern browser architecture and debugging tools.

• Experience in API design and integration.

• Capability to navigate and learn from extensive codebases.

• Excellent communication skills and experience working in distributed teams.

• Bonus points for:

• Familiarity with Firefox internals, C++ or Rust.

• Experience with Android or GeckoView development.

• Knowledge of web security principles.

• Contributions to open source projects, particularly in browser or extension development.
