This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.
β’ Flock Safety is in search of a frontend-oriented Senior Software Engineer to join our Search team.
β’ Your primary focus will be predominantly frontend (approximately 90%), while also maintaining the fullstack perspective necessary to develop seamless end-to-end features.
β’ You will be involved in a high-traffic production system where the caliber of your work directly influences significant outcomes.
β’ You will lead the frontend architecture within a sophisticated React/TypeScript/Node stack, working closely with backend engineers, product management, and design to define the future of the Search experience.
β’ A minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, demonstrating profound knowledge of modern frontend web technologies, design patterns, and user interface design utilizing React and TypeScript.
β’ Experience with mapping libraries (such as Mapbox or Google Maps API) and/or intricate data visualizations on maps.
β’ Proficiency in Node.js / Express for web services and a strong understanding of general API design principles (e.g., REST, GraphQL, gRPC).
β’ Familiarity with essential backend microservice concepts, including basic SQL (PostgreSQL or similar) and understanding how clients interact between services to effectively collaborate with dedicated backend colleagues.
β’ A resourceful problem-solver with a knack for thriving in ambiguous scenarios and taking initiative.
β’ A passion for coding, enthusiasm for working on a fast-paced, ever-evolving product, and a dedication to continuous learning.
