Senior Software Engineer, Python, GenAI, MCP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Finance and various teams across Airbnb to transform their needs into integrations, automations, and reporting solutions.

• Participate in design discussions and reviews alongside architects and other technical teams.

• Transition integrations from Oracle Cloud to our proprietary platform.

• Guide and mentor junior engineers and contractors through design evaluations, architecture discussions, and pair programming sessions.

• Diagnose and resolve issues within the integrations and infrastructure you manage.

• Investigate the rapidly changing GenAI landscape by assessing new models and techniques for potential implementation and share insights.

• Take ownership of the architecture, implementation, and reliability of integrations and microservices using Java, Python, or TypeScript.

• Enhance the in-house integration platform to empower technical teams across Airbnb to self-serve and develop no-code features that enable non-technical teams to automate their workflows.

• Create and implement AI-assisted automations and MCP integrations that broaden internal platform functionalities.

• Convert Oracle module requirements into effective solutions, review them with the team, and present findings to stakeholders.

• Maintain quality and reliability through code reviews, testing, monitoring, and incident management.

• Document designs and operational procedures, and support the application infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on developing production systems.

• At least 2 years of practical experience in AI integration architecture, including the use of LLMs in intelligent automation, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and RAG.

• Proficient in backend technologies (TypeScript, Python, or Java) and in developing microservices and integrations.

• Solid understanding of messaging infrastructure, data streaming, and storage solutions.

• Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases, including the capability to write, review, and recommend PL/SQL code optimizations.

• Strong expertise in backend and distributed systems, encompassing API design and AWS.

• Demonstrated history of utilizing AI in development to transition products from prototype to production.

• Ability to work collaboratively across functions and influence stakeholders without formal authority.

• Outstanding communication skills, capable of simplifying complex technical concepts for varied audiences.
