This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the technical lead for SimSpace's internet simulation platform.
• Take ownership of the complete architecture for the eBPF-based routing simulation layer, which includes designing XDP and TC hook points, BPF map structures, and generating synthetic ICMP TTL-exceeded messages.
• Create and develop the control-plane topology database and pipeline for processing real-world internet topology data.
• Design the in-range proxy agent responsible for managing local topology configurations, DNS delegation, and traffic forwarding.
• Establish the control-plane and in-range-agent interface contract, encompassing topology updates, graceful degradation, and agent lifecycle management.
• Make daily architectural choices, conduct design evaluations, and uphold engineering quality throughout the team.
• Collaborate with engineers on simulation-related challenges and influence the technical roadmap.
• Mentor engineers in systems design, kernel-level debugging, and maintaining engineering rigor.
• Work alongside platform teams to develop the operational model for a long-term, multi-tenant service that supports active cyber range deployments.
• Extensive knowledge of Linux kernel networking and eBPF program development, including expertise in XDP, TC hooks, and various BPF map types.
• Proficient in systems programming using C or Rust for eBPF development.
• Experience with Go or Python for control-plane agents and tooling.
• Strong grasp of BGP, ASN topology, CIDR allocation, and inter-AS peering.
• Proven experience in designing systems that separate control-plane and data-plane functions.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in establishing architectural direction and enhancing engineering quality across a team.
• Comfort in transitioning research proofs of concept into dependable production systems at scale.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes for control-plane services and distributed agents.
• Experience in network simulation, traffic shaping, or cyber range infrastructure is a significant advantage.
• Previous experience in cybersecurity, defense, or adjacent government sectors is a plus.
• Must be able to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
• Proof of U.S. citizenship is required at the time of hire.
