Senior Software Engineer – Lending

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• You will serve as the technical cornerstone of the team developing Clutch's real-time lending decision-making engine.

• Establish the technical vision for new projects, oversee the architecture of crucial system components, and tackle the most challenging and ambiguous problems.

• Make and document key technical choices on the initiatives you manage, while proactively communicating progress, risks, and obstacles.

• Actively contribute to the development of your teammates through comprehensive peer reviews, mentorship, and collaborative efforts that enhance code quality, design, and maintainability.

• Within a span of 3 months, quickly become proficient in the decision-making engine, taking full ownership of a significant feature or initiative from start to finish.

• Independently debug and resolve intricate issues, offering clear root-cause analyses and documenting insights for the team.

• Set the technical vision and spearhead the design and execution of a major new initiative or partner go-live within a 6-month timeframe.

• Ensure consistent delivery by communicating progress, risks, and blockers without needing prompts.

• Identify architectural decisions with implications across teams and influence how the broader engineering organization addresses similar challenges within 9 months.

• Possess a strong product-oriented mindset, capable of linking technical decisions to business outcomes and partner success.

• Demonstrated history of owning significant features or systems end-to-end in production, from discovery and design to deployment, monitoring, and follow-up.

• Strong skills in system and architectural design, with the discernment to set technical direction for new projects while balancing long-term maintainability with short-term delivery.

• Ability to navigate high levels of ambiguity: independently deconstructing complex, underspecified problems, providing clear root-cause analysis, and making informed technical trade-offs.

• Exceptional communication skills and a genuinely collaborative, team-oriented working style, with a history of aiding teammates in their development through mentorship, pairing, and high-quality code reviews.

• Consistently elevate the engineering standards through code reviews, pairing, and mentorship—not just concerning code quality, but also in how the team approaches problem-solving.

• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering and a perspective on effectively integrating AI within a team.

• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with Product, Credit, Implementation, and external stakeholders to align on scope and trade-offs.

• Advanced proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

• Previous experience with loan origination systems or lending/credit decision-making is a significant advantage.

• Experience in building custom AI tools, such as agents, or establishing AI engineering standards for a team.
