This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design, develop, and maintain TypeScript microservices that facilitate billing lifecycle management across both self-serve and enterprise plan models.
• Create and enhance integrations with payment processing, usage metering, and CRM platforms to ensure contract and entitlement synchronization.
• Implement dependable event-driven workflows utilizing Kafka or similar platforms to handle contract events, provision entitlements, and initiate billing state transitions.
• Design and oversee the entitlement enforcement layer that regulates product access based on plan type and contract status across Kong's multi-tenant platform.
• Take ownership of the provisioning pipeline that connects closed sales opportunities to active organizational configurations, minimizing manual intervention and reducing human error.
• Collaborate with product managers, RevOps, and finance stakeholders to convert billing requirements into dependable, auditable system behaviors.
• Develop and enhance internal tools for billing operations, including administrative interfaces utilized by customer support and finance teams.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with thorough unit, integration, and end-to-end tests within a high-stakes financial domain.
• Engage in code reviews, design discussions, and architecture planning with an emphasis on correctness, idempotency, and operational resilience.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and manage incident responses for billing platform services.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of engineering excellence and operational accountability.
• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience in building backend services and distributed systems.
• Strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js, with experience in developing production microservices using frameworks like NestJS.
• Extensive experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar), including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling in financial or transactional contexts.
• Proven experience in designing and constructing event-driven architectures using Kafka, SQS, or comparable messaging platforms.
• Demonstrated experience integrating with third-party financial or billing platforms such as Stripe, Zuora, Chargebee, or usage metering systems.
• Strong comprehension of distributed systems concepts including consistency, idempotency, eventual consistency, and failure recovery within financial workflows.
• Experience in building microservices that consume and produce CRM events as part of automated provisioning or fulfillment workflows.
• Solid understanding of multi-tenant SaaS architecture and the complexities of enforcing per-organization entitlements at scale.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration for deploying and managing production services.
• Strong foundational knowledge in computer science, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Proven skills in using code repositories and collaboration tools (GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, or similar).
• Experience working with globally distributed teams.
