
Senior Software Engineer II – Shopper Activation, Engagement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee the design, architecture, and implementation of highly scalable services that support the entire shopper lifecycle, including onboarding, eligibility, work evaluation, earnings, ratings and quality, recognition, safety, and retention.
• Establish the technical direction for domain migrations and platform modernization; define patterns, interfaces, and standards that enhance reliability, performance, and developer productivity across various services and codebases.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data Science teams to develop roadmaps and success metrics; conduct experiments, measure outcomes, and iterate to boost activation, engagement, and retention results.
• Advocate for AI integration across the team by developing internal tools and automated solutions that expedite development, testing, and operations; safely and effectively incorporate AI into the engineering process.
• Manage complex cross-functional programs with dependencies involving R&D and business partners (e.g., Logistics, Identity & Fraud, Transaction Platform, Mobile Foundations, Operations, Legal, Trust & Safety, CRM); coordinate stakeholders and deliver results within tight timelines.
• Enhance operational excellence—observability, incident response, SLAs/SLOs, performance optimization—while guiding engineers through design reviews, documentation, and pair programming.
• A minimum of 7 years of professional software engineering experience in building and operating production systems at scale.
• At least 3 years of experience architecting and managing distributed systems with high availability and low latency (e.g., microservices, event-driven architectures, streaming/queues).
• Proficiency in at least two of the following languages: Go, Java, Kotlin, Python; along with hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), containers/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and data technologies (SQL/NoSQL, Redis, Kafka or Pub/Sub).
• Over 2 years of experience leading cross-functional technical projects involving multiple teams and external dependencies, successfully delivering under tight deadlines.
• Practical experience in integrating AI into the development lifecycle (e.g., code or test generation, CI/CD automation, observability or incident triage) with demonstrable improvements in productivity and quality.
• Established collaboration with Product, Design, and Data Science teams to define requirements and deliver user-facing features.
• A proven history of mentoring engineers and enhancing team practices through design reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
