Senior Software Engineer II, Logistic Foundation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +18 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and lead intricate platform workstreams from start to finish — encompassing engineering design documents, implementation, launch coordination, war room monitoring, and ongoing support.

• Design, construct, and manage high-quality, high-throughput distributed backend services with established SLOs, robust observability, and effective on-call/incident response practices.

• Evaluate and enhance service and data architectures; propose and spearhead new systems that boost reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.

• Set and promote engineering standards through thorough design reviews, production readiness, on-call ownership, and continuous improvements in instrumentation and alerting.

• Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and Policy teams to provide compliance-ready solutions across various jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks, balancing urgency with long-term maintainability.

• Propel the integration of modern technologies and AI tools to expedite development, enhance quality, and increase delivery speed; mentor peers and influence platform roadmaps.

• Contribute to key fulfillment areas — earnings, pricing, routing, batching, matching, dispatch, and geospatial — providing solutions that have a direct impact on customers, shoppers, and partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of backend software development experience delivering scalable, production systems from beginning to end.

• Expertise in at least one backend programming language such as Ruby, Python, or Go.

• Practical experience in building and managing large-scale distributed backend services with established SLOs, on-call ownership, observability, and incident response.

• Demonstrated success in independently leading complex, cross-functional projects amid high ambiguity and challenging external deadlines.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create technical documents (e.g., ERDs, design docs) and coordinate launches with non-engineering stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
