Senior Software Engineer II, Infra Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design and implement innovative cloud infrastructure to support high-performance SaaS applications on a global scale.

• Lead infrastructure initiatives from concept to execution, overseeing design documentation, implementation, rollout, and operational responsibility.

• Develop and provide observability tools while analyzing data in collaboration with the application development team to ensure an exceptional customer experience.

• Enhance automation for infrastructure provisioning, improve developer productivity, and increase efficiency in internal tools.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to expedite Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, code review, and on-call processes, all while upholding rigorous standards for security, accuracy, and review practices.

• Guide fellow engineers and play a role in team-wide architectural decisions.

• Support our customer support and sales teams with technical inquiries related to the Optro application.

• Ensure the reliability of our production systems to surpass SLA requirements, including participating in an on-call rotation for production-related issues.

• Assist in defining internal Service Level Objectives and Service Level Indicators for the Infrastructure Engineering team to enhance reliability.

• Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and product managers, providing and receiving constructive feedback in a dynamic setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of software development experience, with a proven ability to take projects from initial idea to production.

• Strong software development foundation with significant expertise in at least one programming language (such as Go, Python, TypeScript, or similar).

• Familiarity with Docker and experience in running container orchestration systems (Kubernetes is preferred).

• Experience with cloud service providers (AWS or Azure is preferred).

• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code and other cloud automation tools (e.g., HashiCorp suite).

• Experience in creating observability tools, dashboards, and alerts for monitoring distributed systems.

• Background in designing globally distributed systems within a cloud-based, container-centric environment.

• Proficient in writing clear design documentation and influencing architectural choices.

• Comfortable with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) and capable of exercising sound judgment on their application.

• Bonus: Contributions to open-source projects or experience in defining SLOs/SLIs for production services.
