Senior Software Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and maintain robust, low-latency microservices and data pipelines that facilitate fulfillment planning, inventory management, and delivery commitments.

• Collaborate with machine learning and data science teams to operationalize models and features, facilitate online experimentation, and enhance decision-making quality continuously.

• Take ownership of services throughout their lifecycle, from technical design and request for comments (RFCs) to implementation, deployment, observability, and participation in on-call duties.

• Enhance reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness through service level objectives (SLOs), capacity planning, incident analysis, and performance enhancement.

• Work cross-functionally with Product, Marketplace, and Operations teams to establish roadmaps and achieve significant customer and business outcomes.

• Provide mentorship to fellow engineers through code and design evaluations, pair programming, and contributions to engineering best practices and standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in professional software engineering, focused on backend services or distributed systems.

• Expertise in at least one of the following programming languages: Go, Java, Python, or Scala.

• Practical experience in designing and managing microservices on a leading cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) utilizing containers/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Strong SQL abilities and familiarity with event streaming and data storage solutions (e.g., Kafka or Pub/Sub; Redis; PostgreSQL or MySQL).

• Demonstrated ownership of production services, including observability (metrics, logging, tracing) and participation in an on-call rotation.

• Experience working in an agile environment and effectively collaborating with product managers, data scientists, and other cross-functional partners.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
