Senior Software Engineer, Front-End Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Developing and sustaining the tools, pipelines, and processes that ensure frontend development at Discord remains efficient, secure, and dependable.

• Gaining expertise in JavaScript tooling and serving as a valuable resource to assist teams in overcoming any challenges they face during development.

• Refactoring and enhancing the codebase to address technical debt, stay aligned with cutting-edge web development practices, and promote improved maintainability.

• Creating innovative tools tailored to meet the specific requirements of Discord’s frontend projects, ensuring seamless functionality.

• Delving into bundlers, linters, formatters, editor plugins, and more to enhance their performance, adopt and evaluate new features early, and consistently elevate the experience for developers utilizing them.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience with JavaScript tools and the Node.js ecosystem.

• A willingness to work with multiple programming languages, typically including JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, Kotlin, Go, and Swift.

• Proven experience in developing and maintaining CLI tools and packages in JavaScript.

• A strong commitment to writing maintainable code and intentionally documenting for future reference.

• Comprehensive understanding of all tools involved in frontend development and their interconnections.
