Senior Software Engineer, Firefox Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Enhance the security architecture and cryptography framework of Firefox: Contribute to the advancement of Firefox's essential security systems, focusing on cryptographic protocols, WebPKI, and security-sensitive web APIs. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of security features that facilitate the development of public key infrastructure on the web.

• Design and develop web platform security features: Collaborate with teammates and the wider web community to create and launch web platform features. Contribute to secure, standards-based, and interoperable implementations throughout Firefox.

• Boost browser reliability, performance, and resource efficiency: Investigate and resolve issues affecting stability, correctness, and performance. Analyze and enhance memory usage and efficiency in a complex, multi-threaded browser environment.

• Collaborate on security projects: Work with engineers across various teams to identify, prioritize, and tackle security challenges. Engage in debugging, root cause analysis, and the implementation of effective long-term solutions.

• Participate in technical design and planning: Engage in technical discussions, design reviews, and project planning for security-related projects. Assist in evaluating trade-offs and contribute to engineering decisions within your area of expertise.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong foundation in software engineering and security: Experience in software engineering, with proficiency in C/C++ and a comprehensive understanding of security principles, including cryptographic protocols and implementations.

• Experience in building and maintaining intricate software systems: Capability to contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and upkeep of software in large-scale or security-sensitive environments.

• Proficient debugging and problem-solving abilities: Expertise in diagnosing and resolving issues in multi-threaded, cross-platform native applications, encompassing performance and memory-related challenges.

• Collaborative and effective communicator: Proven ability to work efficiently with distributed teams, convey technical concepts clearly, and collaborate effectively to address problems.

• Growth mindset and eagerness to learn: Demonstrated curiosity and a desire to deepen knowledge in browser security, cryptography, and systems programming while continually enhancing engineering skills.

• Familiarity with web platforms and modern systems: Knowledge of web technologies and interest or experience in Rust. Comfortable working within extensive, complex, multi-language codebases.
