Senior Software Engineer, Elixir

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Uruguay.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of outcomes from start to finish, regardless of your deployment location.

• Identify the problem, design a solution, implement it, and take responsibility for the metrics.

• Simplify the project to the most cost-effective version that functions effectively.

• Create prototypes within days.

• Maintain close relationships with customers.

• Observe sales and support processes, participate in advisory discussions, and allow customer realities to shape technical decisions.

• Recommend what to develop, postpone, or discontinue.

• Take charge of your domain and share your insights.

• Oversee aspects like interfaces, reliability, performance, and security, including being on-call for the systems you manage.

• Ensure that consent and PII management are pivotal to building customer trust.

• Share patterns, tools, and valuable insights with the broader organization rather than keeping them to yourself.

• Design systems that leverage AI effectively.

• Develop AI-assisted workflows that are robust, adapt the team's practices as tools evolve, and seek product opportunities unlocked by AI (such as smarter routing, anomaly detection, and more).

• Enhance the effectiveness of multiple teams you collaborate with.

• Provide mentorship focused on judgment and product insight, not just technical syntax.

• Document decisions and architectural design recommendations.

• Empower Product and Design teams to operate independently.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in delivering a project from inception to completion that you were passionate about, taking ownership of the outcome beyond just the code.

• Strong product judgment: the ability to challenge poor specifications, suggest the most economical experiments, and effectively simplify projects.

• Ability to integrate with unfamiliar teams and codebases quickly, becoming productive while improving their state.

• Extensive full-stack knowledge: expertise in Elixir, Vue 3 / Nuxt, scalable Postgres, and AWS (Kubernetes knowledge is a plus).

• Familiarity with Node.js is a bonus.

• Excellent systems design judgment in uncertain situations, with a security-oriented mindset regarding sensitive consumer data and compliance.

• Proficient in critically assessing AI outputs and constructing your own AI-assisted workflows.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience in mentorship.
