This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Drive the design and advancement of backend services that create, distribute, and support personalized podcast episodes at scale.
• Assist in transforming MVPs and prototypes into robust production systems featuring clear APIs, resilient data flows, strong observability, and well-considered operational practices.
• Influence the technical strategy for agentic workflows and aid in setting quality and reliability benchmarks for AI-generated content systems.
• Develop and enhance creator merchandising functionalities in Spotify for Creators, such as podcast chapters, transcripts, previews, clips, guests, topics, thumbnails, and more.
• Work collaboratively with engineers, product managers, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders across Spotify missions to synchronize on requirements and deliver cohesive experiences.
• Collaborate closely with product and design teams to iterate on concepts, remove technical obstacles, and make practical trade-offs that balance experimentation with sustainable long-term practices.
• Mentor engineers within the team and elevate the quality of technical design discussions, RFCs, reviews, and operational methodologies.
• Contribute to fostering a culture of experimentation, ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Over 5 years of experience in building and managing production backend systems using Java, Kotlin, Scala, Go, or similar programming languages.
• Proficient in distributed systems concepts, including asynchronous processing, queues/pub-sub systems, idempotency, service-to-service APIs, storage architecture, failure management, and observability.
• Practical experience with, or a strong interest in, LLM-powered applications and agentic workflows.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity while ensuring strong engineering discipline and production reliability.
• Deep commitment to the user experience for both creators and listeners, beyond just the technical execution.
• Capable of clear communication across both technical and non-technical audiences and effective collaboration across teams.
• Background in mentoring engineers and assisting teams in enhancing engineering quality and operational maturity.
