Senior Software Engineer, Data Layer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of projects from inception to completion, encompassing scoping, system design, implementation, rollout, and production validation, while driving tangible progress on the team’s top priority initiatives.

• Create and develop highly reliable, low-latency systems that cater to millions of users, addressing challenges such as caching, upstream service optimization, and efficient connection management at scale.

• Enhance and refine the API framework and tools used by hundreds of engineers, streamlining the process for teams across the organization to build, test, and deploy independently.

• Foster operational excellence within T0 services: manage SLOs, enhance observability, lead incident response efforts, and minimize operational toil to allow the team to focus on high-impact work.

• Collaborate across functions with product engineering teams to design API schemas, support service launches, and ensure the platform evolves to satisfy their requirements.

• Elevate the technical standards through code and design reviews, mentor engineers throughout the team, and contribute to the architectural vision.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional engineering experience with a proven track record of owning complex, production-grade distributed systems.

• Strong expertise in backend programming languages (such as Go, Java, or similar), with practical experience in designing microservices, API platforms, and high-availability systems.

• Proven ability to deliver projects from start to finish, including scoping, architecture, implementation, monitoring, and iteration, in environments where reliability and performance are critical.

• Experience in breaking down complex systems into clear APIs and abstractions adopted by various consuming teams, with comfort in handling on-call responsibilities and leading incident responses across multi-service architectures.

• Demonstrated capability to align technical decisions with cross-functional stakeholders, translating platform capabilities into actionable plans in collaboration with frontend engineers, product teams, and platform users.

• Employs generative AI responsibly, ensuring human oversight to provide business-ready outcomes and drive measurable enhancements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
