Senior Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure – AI Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of performance optimization on the StarRocks serving layer utilizing AI-assisted query profiling.

• Develop and strengthen data pipelines that facilitate government cloud investigations.

• Become a secondary engineer capable of independently managing and troubleshooting the serving layer.

• Mitigate single points of failure and decrease incident response time within the GovCloud data infrastructure.

• Employ AI-assisted debugging and log analysis to address production issues and pinpoint root causes.

• Engage in on-call responsibilities.

• Review incidents, infrastructure tasks, and compliance milestones during weekly team sync meetings.

• Deliver asynchronous daily updates concerning pipeline health, tickets, and obstacles.

• Organize work in sprint-based cycles with defined ownership.

• Conduct post-incident retrospectives and revise runbooks accordingly.

• Collaborate with Forward Deployed Engineering, Product, and the larger Data Platform organization.

• Ensure consistency between the government cloud environment and the commercial platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to government cloud data access restrictions.

• Practical experience with operating distributed OLAP or serving-layer systems such as StarRocks, Trino, ClickHouse, or similar technologies.

• Proficient in query tuning and performance optimization at scale.

• Experience in ensuring data pipeline reliability and managing incident responses.

• Familiarity with AI tools like Claude, Cursor, or similar for debugging, code review, and documentation purposes.

• Capability to independently assume responsibility for unfamiliar production infrastructure and quickly adapt through AI-assisted research and code exploration.

• Willingness to take on-call duties with minimal supervision.

• High degree of ownership, adaptability, collaboration, and innovative problem-solving skills.

• Applied AI fluency will be assessed during the interview process.
