Senior Software Engineer, Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and manage data services and APIs utilized by application teams.

• Collaborate with Data Platform engineers to convert event streams and pipelines into interfaces ready for application use.

• Take ownership of the technical design for significant features, which includes API structure, data agreements, versioning, and ensuring backward compatibility.

• Develop using Python and SQL within event-driven architectures.

• Work together with application teams to establish integration patterns and service expectations.

• Enhance the observability, accuracy, and operational maturity of data products.

• Improve platform performance and optimize cloud cost efficiency.

• Partner with the Data Platform team regarding pipeline contracts and data accessibility.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in developing production software systems, preferably including data services or platform APIs.

• Proficient in Python — capable of writing production-grade, testable, and maintainable code.

• Strong SQL proficiency and comfort in handling large analytical datasets.

• Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming systems (such as Kafka, Flink, or similar).

• Proven experience in designing and managing REST APIs that are utilized by application teams.

• Ability to take technical ownership — leading design decisions rather than merely executing them.

• Familiarity with AI-enhanced development tools (like Claude, Codex) as part of a contemporary engineering workflow.

• Preferred experience includes:

• Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses.

• Knowledge in data modeling for analytical or operational applications.

• Basics of ML engineering — feature pipelines and model-adjacent data services.
