This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Develop and deliver production-quality implementations of data normalization, schema mapping, validation, enrichment, and distribution pipelines for a brand-new intelligent data warehouse.
• Create clean, well-tested, and high-performance code across backend services, data pipeline logic, and API integrations.
• Assume complete ownership of features from design through deployment, ensuring accuracy and reliability in production.
• Collaborate closely with Staff engineers to define the architecture of a contemporary, AI-native data warehouse serving institutional financial clients.
• Provide insightful feedback on schema design, normalization strategies, and API patterns, executing these decisions with precision.
• Proactively identify and escalate technical risks; suggest and implement solutions without waiting for direction.
• Utilize agentic coding tools and LLM-assisted development as your main workflow, which reflects the entire team's operational mode.
• Rigorously assess AI-generated code for accuracy, edge cases, and regressions, ensuring quality output regardless of its origin.
• Construct and uphold data validation checks, monitoring, and observability tools that maintain pipeline integrity at scale.
• Engage in on-call and production support, swiftly diagnosing and resolving data quality issues.
• Produce and maintain clear technical documentation for the systems you develop.
• 4–7 years of software engineering experience, with a proven history of delivering production systems end-to-end.
• Robust backend engineering fundamentals, including backend services, data pipelines, and API design; you will be asked to discuss systems you have personally developed.
• Practical experience in data pipeline or data warehouse engineering, including ETL/ELT patterns, schema design, normalization, and data distribution.
• Production experience working with LLMs, including prompt design, model integration, and output validation in real-world systems.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted and agentic development workflows; you use these tools on a daily basis and critically evaluate their outputs.
• Experience with AWS data infrastructure; familiarity with Redshift is a plus.
• Strong written communication skills, enabling you to clearly document technical decisions for both engineering and product audiences.
• Ability to critically assess AI-generated code and outputs, including recognizing failure modes and regressions.
