Senior Software Engineer – Core Trading

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Your role involves developing Alpaca's algorithmic trading platform to meet the high expectations of our users regarding quality and performance in brokerage services.

• This position is akin to joining AWS or Heroku during their formative years, where you'll engage in designing and architecting our platform while taking on various responsibilities within our compact team.

• As a seasoned engineer, you will write extensive code and make pivotal decisions to ensure the best experience for our customers.

• This role demands a profound understanding of both frontend and backend technologies, database management, and distributed systems, alongside extensive experience from low to high levels of CPU hardware for optimal throughput, robust concurrency system design, abstract distributed system architecture for high availability, and object-oriented data modeling with a vision for long-term growth.

⛳️ Requirements

• A strong and experienced software engineer with leadership experience is highly preferred.

• Proficiency in both low and high-level programming languages such as C/C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, and Python.

• Experience in optimizing for low latency and high throughput.

• Familiarity with messaging queues and message brokers.

• An analytical, data-driven mindset and skill set.

• Knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, low latency systems, and concurrency control.

• System design expertise, including object-oriented data modeling, service-oriented architectures, and system abstraction.

• Experience in the development and implementation of Order Management Systems (OMS) and Risk Management Systems (RMS).
