
Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Security Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Design and develop essential components of Samsara's Cloud Governance Platform, actively contributing to cloud IAM, security controls, compliance enforcement, and software supply-chain security features.
• Play a key role in shaping the roadmap for governance and security tools across AWS and GCP, applying engineering judgment in prioritization discussions.
• Convert regulatory and compliance mandates into automated, consistently enforced controls through direct execution.
• Develop and sustain software supply-chain security tools, including SAST, DAST, and secure CI/CD pipeline methodologies.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, and Product Engineering teams to devise solutions for cross-functional risk and governance challenges.
• Share technical expertise with colleagues through code reviews, collaborative programming, and everyday teamwork.
• Effectively communicate technical strategies, trade-offs, and risks in design documents and team conversations.
• Advocate for, model, and integrate Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we expand globally and establish new offices.
• 4+ years of professional experience in software development.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong programming and design fundamentals (Golang, Python or similar).
• Extensive hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar).
• Solid understanding of cloud security, IAM systems, threat models, and mitigation strategies.
• Experience in designing and operating highly reliable, scalable distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
• Experience in building internal developer platforms or governance systems utilized across multiple teams (ideal).
• Background in developer tools, infrastructure, or productivity engineering (ideal).
• Familiarity with software supply-chain security practices and tools (ideal).
• Proficiency in Golang, Python, Terraform, or similar platform-focused technologies (ideal).
