This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design and develop a cutting-edge reliability platform for Affirm’s production systems.
• Take ownership of and achieve quarterly objectives for the team.
• Guide engineers through unclear and open-ended challenges while providing support throughout the delivery process.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during the ideation and decision-making phases.
• Clearly communicate technical limitations and assess risks and trade-offs.
• Identify and spearhead the resolution of project, process, technology, and business-related issues.
• Enhance operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues as necessary, and participating in ongoing operational efforts and on-call responsibilities.
• Establish and refine standards for code reviews and design.
• Promote quality and ownership through writing and technical presentations.
• Cultivate team talent through constructive feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
• Over 4 years of experience as a software engineer.
• Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying scalable backend systems.
• Proficient in Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience in deploying web applications using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
• Practical knowledge of LLMs or AI frameworks for automation and guidance, including the use of guardrails and citations.
• Experience in outlining technical plans for major features or system components.
• Ability to write high-quality, clear, and reusable code.
• Expertise in safely implementing significant changes in large codebases.
• Experience in developing tools and methodologies to facilitate safe large-scale code modifications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with global engineering teams.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
