This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Design, assess, construct, and sustain real-time algorithms and systems for vehicle tracking, map-matching, ETA predictions, and disruption detection.
• Contribute to Swiftly's real-time data pipelines, APIs, and cloud services that empower customer-facing products.
• Develop data infrastructure to facilitate rigorous algorithm development, ensuring changes are validated at scale prior to production. This may encompass pipelines for capturing and replaying real-time data, offline evaluation frameworks, and shadow testing infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to prototype solutions, validate methodologies, and deliver incremental value.
• Decompose complex issues into smaller, testable components to enable the team to progress quickly and reliably.
• Share designs and technical decisions transparently, considering trade-offs and documenting for alignment.
• Implement modern engineering practices to produce robust, maintainable, and extensible code.
• Support and uplift teammates through code reviews, collaborative work, and knowledge sharing.
• Take ownership of your tasks and team results, continually reflecting on and enhancing performance.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, preferably with data-intensive or real-time systems.
• Proficient in Java and cloud-native backend services (AWS preferred).
• Experience taking algorithms from concept to execution, delivering production-ready systems that create real-world impact.
• Strong comprehension of real-time data processing, including streaming, event-driven, or predictive systems.
• Comfortable building and utilizing APIs; skilled in SQL.
• A curious mindset and enthusiasm for applying predictive algorithms to address real-world challenges in transit.
