This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Tackle ambiguous, high-impact challenges and guide them from concept to implementation.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to establish scope, trade-offs, and execution strategies.
• Design, develop, and enhance production systems with a strong emphasis on reliability, accuracy, and maintainability.
• Strike a balance between speed and quality, understanding when to expedite and when to take a more deliberate approach.
• Share responsibility for the systems you create, including on-call duties and incident management.
• Contribute to technical and product decisions that influence the trajectory of your team.
• Elevate the standards of team building by enhancing processes, tooling, and overall quality.
• Strong judgment regarding products and customers; you are invested in what is built and its purpose.
• Demonstrated ownership of features or systems in production, including reliability and on-call responsibilities.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making informed trade-offs with limited information.
• A consistent desire to refine your skills and improve the surrounding systems.
• Curiosity, practicality, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Active engagement with AI tools in your daily workflow to enhance development, debugging, and learning.
• Ability to read legacy code without an immediate urge to refactor it entirely.
• Experience in backend development with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with relational databases such as Postgres.
• Expertise in managing production systems with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog).
• Experience working in containerized or cloud-based environments.
• Ability to critically review AI-generated pull requests with the same scrutiny applied to human-generated ones.
