Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver customer-facing features and platform capabilities independently, overseeing everything from design and implementation to rollout and ongoing support in production.

• Develop reliable services, APIs, and web experiences, enhancing existing systems while introducing new functionalities.

• Engage in AI-driven workflows and experiences utilizing contemporary LLM tools, which include evaluation, iteration, and human-in-the-loop methodologies.

• Make informed technical decisions regarding speed, maintainability, scalability, and customer impact.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, ML, and platform teams to create cohesive customer experiences.

• Promote and exemplify Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we expand globally and establish new offices.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 18 months of relevant software engineering experience in developing, launching, and managing reliable customer-facing production systems.

• Proven experience in creating features or end-to-end solutions across backend services, APIs, and contemporary web applications.

• Capability to independently manage moderately complex projects or features within one or two releases, demonstrating strong execution and follow-through.

• Experience in writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code, along with reviewing peer code for accuracy and clarity.

• Proficiency in making thoughtful technical tradeoffs related to performance, scalability, maintainability, and delivery speed.

• Familiarity with utilizing metrics, logs, tests, or tracing to troubleshoot issues, validate releases, and enhance reliability.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with engineering and cross-functional partners.

• Experience or a demonstrated interest in AI-native development, including LLMs and workflow automation.

• A growth mindset, strong product intuition, and enthusiasm for learning new technologies to build impactful customer experiences.
