Senior Software Engineer

📋 Description

• Develop brand new financial systems — architect and implement Pax8’s primary financial framework with an emphasis on auditability, scalability, performance, and secure financial transactions.

• Manage intricate financial domains — structure transactions, events, and ledgers with well-defined boundaries and robust correctness guarantees.

• Design architectures driven by events — utilizing Kafka and asynchronous patterns to facilitate dependable, traceable financial processes.

• Implement Domain-Driven Design — crafting clear domains, event models, and system boundaries that will grow alongside the business.

• Collaborate extensively — engaging closely with product, engineering, and related teams to translate complex financial needs into effective systems.

• Lead by example — participating in design and code reviews, mentoring colleagues, and elevating the engineering standards without formal management responsibilities.

• Maintain production systems — joining on-call rotations for essential financial workflows where precision and calm execution are crucial.

• Accelerate delivery with AI — leveraging coding agents and generative AI to enhance implementation, testing, and documentation while ensuring full accountability for quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in developing financial or money-handling systems such as billing, payments, ledgers, or transaction platforms where accuracy and auditability are vital.

• Strong knowledge of financial integrity, compliance requirements, and potential failure scenarios — even beyond traditional banking settings.

• Extensive backend engineering proficiency with Kotlin and Spring Boot, creating production-level services.

• Proven experience with event-driven architectures and tools like Kafka, particularly for financial processes.

• Capability to design systems using Domain-Driven Design, well-defined domain boundaries, and clear event models.

• Ability to confidently navigate environments where mistakes have significant repercussions and quality is non-negotiable.

• A pragmatic, hands-on approach to AI-enhanced development — utilizing coding agents, specification-driven workflows, and AI-assisted testing as integral components of daily delivery.
