Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Design and develop the APIs and SDKs that support Publish, ensuring they are scalable, well-documented, and dependable for the engineering teams that incorporate them into their own codebases.

• Play a pivotal role in the agentic future of Publish by constructing the backend infrastructure and APIs that will enable AI-driven content creation, management, and publishing workflows.

• Serve as a technical liaison between the platform and the customer, converting intricate enterprise requirements into scalable solutions and reducing the feedback loop between user challenges and feature releases.

• Manage the complexities of a visual CMS at scale. Your work goes beyond merely delivering features; you are developing a platform that must operate reliably and integrate smoothly across a wide range of customer technology stacks, hosting environments, and design systems.

• Influence the technical direction of the Publish platform by leading through code reviews, pair programming, and taking proactive ownership of technical debt and quality issues. You will elevate the technical standards through design documentation, architectural choices, and providing meaningful feedback on the designs of others.

• Ensure smooth launches by anticipating edge cases, identifying risks early, scoping projects with the right balance of effort and value, and delivering work that withstands scrutiny.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in full-stack web development with a proven ability to independently deliver complex, production-quality features.

• Extensive expertise in React and TypeScript/Node.js, with a strong understanding of performance, architectural patterns, and the rendering challenges unique to visual editors and component-driven systems.

• Solid API and backend proficiency, including the design and construction of scalable REST or GraphQL APIs, along with a genuine interest in the platform and infrastructure layer, not just the user interface.

• An inquisitive mindset about AI and agentic systems. You are passionate about creating products where AI actively participates in content workflows and want to help define what that looks like in practice.

• Strong product intuition. You are as concerned with the reasons behind building something as with the methods, and you are adept at making product micro-decisions and navigating uncertainty without waiting for perfect requirements.

• A customer-centric approach. You are comfortable engaging directly with enterprise customers, asking pertinent questions to uncover core issues, and managing the resolution process from start to finish.

• Proficiency in cloud technologies. Experience in architecting scalable systems on AWS or Google Cloud.

• High level of initiative. You do not wait for a ticket to be perfectly defined; you proactively identify problems, define solutions, and deliver value iteratively.
