Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of intricate features and subsystems within leading voter and donor management platforms.

• Integrate profound technical expertise with a holistic systems perspective to identify technical debt, suggest architectural enhancements, and mentor colleagues across engineering and QA teams.

• Engage in system design discussions for complex functionalities.

• Propose solutions that achieve a balance between performance, maintainability, scalability, and business requirements.

• Guide junior engineers and peers through code evaluations and collaborative design efforts.

• Exemplify best practices and foster technical excellence.

• Design and develop complex functionalities for voter and donor management, third-party integrations, and AI-driven enhancements.

• Produce high-quality, maintainable code that satisfies performance, security, and scalability criteria.

• Actively detect anomalies, inefficiencies, and technical deficiencies.

• Recommend and advocate for improvements that boost product health.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in software development.

• Extensive hands-on experience with C# and JavaScript / ReactJS.

• A solid foundation in SQL Server and relational database query design.

• Experience in building or maintaining APIs, third-party integrations, or distributed systems.

• Familiarity with web scalability challenges, including caching strategies, data modeling, and asynchronous patterns.

• Proficient in utilizing AI development tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, etc.) as part of your daily workflow.

• Comfortable mentoring others and engaging in architectural discussions.

• Commitment to collaborating with Democratic political campaigns and progressive nonprofit organizations.

• Preferred: Experience in election technology, campaign tools, or mission-driven products.

• Practical experience with Redis, ElasticSearch, or similar tools in a production environment.

• Knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud services.

• Experience with mobile integrations (iOS/Android/React Native).

• Proven track record in building features that incorporate AI/LLM capabilities.
