This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Enhance the architecture, reliability, accuracy, and performance of the core Gecko accessibility engine.
• Identify and resolve issues in our multi-process, multi-threaded codebase.
• Troubleshoot operating system-specific problems.
• Foster strong working relationships with engineers and organizational leaders across different teams.
• Collaborate with design and front-end teams to pinpoint, evaluate, and address accessibility challenges.
• Shape web standards that enhance or provide access to emerging web technologies.
• Participate in the Mozilla open-source project, engaging with Mozilla’s worldwide community.
• Develop infrastructure to connect the web platform with accessibility technology.
• Adhere to standards for Gecko's memory consumption and performance.
• Implement new web features to support innovative applications and content types.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Proven expertise in C++ programming.
• Understanding of web accessibility principles and ARIA.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, the web, and web applications.
• Experience in developing cross-platform native applications.
• Strong creative problem-solving and debugging abilities.
• Background in writing and troubleshooting multi-process, multi-threaded code.
• Capability to learn and navigate a large and intricate multi-language codebase.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to effectively collaborate as part of a geographically-distributed open development team.
