Senior Software Development Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate effectively to produce high-quality, testable code that aligns with the "Definition of Done" in relation to team commitments;

• Employ a "Test-First" approach to software development whenever feasible, where tests are created prior to coding;

• Engage in design and code reviews alongside fellow engineers;

• Develop automated unit, system, and acceptance tests, and take part in reviewing test plans;

• Actively support and contribute to demonstrations at the end of iterations;

• Oversee assigned tasks related to integration, testing, and deployment;

• Collaborate with product management to define the scope and estimate enhancements for products;

• Design, implement, and unit test software while adhering to established processes;

• Correct software defects reported internally or by customers in accordance with defined procedures;

• Promote continuous improvement within the team by being accountable for actions and consistently striving to enhance problem-solving abilities;

• Participate in team retrospectives, aiding in the identification and resolution of team obstacles;

• Document program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections clearly;

• Take an active role in the change management process as business and technical scopes evolve;

• Develop and maintain full-stack features leveraging .NET backend services and Angular frontend components to ensure a high-quality, efficient user experience;

• Create and sustain RESTful APIs and integrations that facilitate clinical workflows and data exchange within the application;

• Support cloud migration initiatives, aiding in the transition of existing on-premise workloads to AWS infrastructure;

• Pose insightful questions during grooming sessions to identify ambiguities early, ensuring user stories are well-defined before development starts;

• Acquire a solid understanding of the healthcare domain and business context to contribute meaningfully beyond the immediate technical scope;

• Mentor and coach junior engineers, offering guidance on code quality, architectural decisions, and engineering best practices;

• Comply with all confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and other policies as outlined in Employer's Operating Policies and Procedures concerning all data and services handled;

• Adhere to Inovalon’s policies, procedures, and mission statement, and fulfill responsibilities that may be reasonably assigned to achieve operational and financial success;

• On Call Policy: Participate in an on-call rotation to address critical issues, including outside of standard business hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays), ensuring timely responses and resolutions as per defined SLAs.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 6 years of software development experience, demonstrating expertise in C# and .NET; a solid foundation in data structures and algorithms is essential;

• 3 years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products, along with 1 year of experience in software design and architecture;

• Proficient in Angular or a similar modern frontend framework, capable of building and maintaining responsive, component-based user interfaces;

• Familiarity with MS SQL Server or similar relational database technologies;

• Experience with or a strong interest in cloud platforms, especially AWS, to support ongoing migration efforts;

• Experience with Python or other similar scripting languages is advantageous;

• Familiar with Datadog or a comparable observability and monitoring platform;

• Advanced skills in design, debugging, and coding;

• Capable of building secure applications while adhering to security standards;

• Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of complex technical challenges with minimal supervision;

• A strong team player with a collaborative engineering approach, bringing enthusiasm and engagement to standups, retrospectives, and cross-functional collaboration;

• Demonstrated integrity and the ability to gain trust from colleagues;

• Exhibits a growth mindset, regularly seeking feedback and effectively pursuing personal and professional development;

• Engages in self-directed learning activities aimed at enhancing expertise within the technical domain, such as reading relevant materials and participating in domain forums or groups;
