Senior Software Development Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead the design and architecture of effective, dependable, and scalable digital solutions, ensuring they align with enterprise standards and long-term technical strategies.

• Produce high-quality, production-ready code, develop intricate software components, and implement essential functionalities in accordance with project specifications.

• Direct technical architecture and infrastructure decisions for digital solutions, recommending design patterns and making architectural decisions that guarantee scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.

• Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

• Advocate for engineering best practices, including code quality, testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and observability.

• Oversee the quality assurance process for complex features — write and execute thorough unit and integration tests, conduct detailed code reviews, debug, and troubleshoot production issues to ensure reliability and stability.

• Facilitate technical discussions and contribute to cross-functional planning with product, operations, and clinical stakeholders.

• Lead agile ceremonies, participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and progress tracking while eliminating technical obstacles for the team.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system designs, architecture decision records, specifications, runbooks, and user guides.

• Identify and spearhead initiatives for reducing technical debt, optimizing performance, and improving processes.

• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and seek professional development opportunities, encouraging others to do the same.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience, particularly in Back End development.

• 3+ years of experience in Java fundamentals and advanced concepts (concurrency, JVM internals, performance tuning), as well as proficiency in Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.

• 3+ years of expertise in GraphQL, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture, including the design and implementation of distributed systems.

• 3+ years of demonstrated experience in database design, development, and optimization across both relational and NoSQL databases.

• 2+ years of experience with the software development lifecycle (SDLC), version control (Git), branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.

• 2+ years of experience in participating in and/or leading code reviews and establishing testing strategies using modern testing frameworks.

• 2+ years of experience with cloud-native development and deployment patterns.
