This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop and sustain internal tools for the data team, including command-line interfaces (CLIs), automation scripts, observability dashboards, and tools to enhance developer productivity.
• Play a key role in the development and deployment of the conversational analytics product for the team, focusing on supporting infrastructure, continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), and ensuring production readiness.
• Specify and oversee Snowflake infrastructure as code using Terraform, which encompasses provisioning, access controls, resource monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Enhance, maintain, and upgrade the data catalog (OpenMetadata) for the team, ensuring that data assets are well documented, easily discoverable, and trusted throughout the organization.
• Take ownership of the data quality infrastructure by creating and managing frameworks for testing, monitoring, and alerting on data freshness, completeness, and accuracy.
• Develop and oversee CI/CD workflows for the deployment of dbt models, schema validation, data quality assessments, and automated testing procedures.
• Create and maintain reproducible local and development environments to ensure that all team members can work efficiently without any obstacles.
• Collaborate with the Tech Lead to design and implement the architecture of the data platform, ensuring alignment with the technical strategy of the team and the security and scalability requirements of the company.
• Approach all engineering tasks with a security-first mentality, ensuring that access patterns, credentials, and audit logging are documented and version-controlled.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure that pull requests meet acceptance criteria and maintain engineering standards across the team's codebase.
• Carry out other responsibilities as assigned.
• A university degree or college diploma in a recognized technical, vocational, or academic program (ideally in Engineering or Computer Science) or equivalent professional experience.
• A minimum of 5 years in software engineering, with at least 2 years concentrating on data platforms or data infrastructure.
• Familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Experience utilizing Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform to manage cloud infrastructure.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (JavaScript/TypeScript is preferred; Python is also advantageous).
• Experience with data ingestion platforms such as Fivetran or Airbyte.
• Strong foundation in engineering principles, including version control discipline, code review, and reproducible builds.
• Experience in implementing secure data practices to comply with regulatory standards.
