Senior Social Producer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Quickly identify, clip, and edit essential moments from live broadcasts for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and X.

• Generate and film original, social-first content featuring show talent (e.g., "fast-fire" Q&As, blind rankings, or reaction videos) that enhances the main broadcast.

• Manage the "front of house" during live broadcasts. You will moderate the live chat, highlight the most compelling audience questions for the producers, and promote real-time engagement.

• Create and maintain the show’s content calendar. You’ll utilize data to identify optimal posting times, thumbnail styles, and platform-specific hooks to maximize reach.

• Supervise the daily operations of the show’s dedicated social media accounts, ensuring a consistent, witty, and authoritative voice that aligns with *The Athletic* brand.

• Employ Premiere, CapCut, or Canva to design engaging visuals, memes, and infographics that simplify complex sports stories into easily digestible social content.

• Stay informed about social trends and algorithm changes. When there’s a new feature on YouTube or a trending sound on TikTok, you’ll be the first to discover how the show can utilize it.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4+ Years in Social Content Creation: A demonstrated history of growing audiences for a sports or media brand.

• Technical "Preditor" Skills: You are a "Producer/Editor." Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and mobile-first editing applications (CapCut, etc.) is essential. Basic filming skills (iPhone or DSLR) are required.

• Internet Fluency: You are well-versed in the platforms. You grasp the differences between a YouTube community post and an Instagram Story.

• Sports Enthusiast: You recognize the memes, rivalries, and nuanced references that resonate with sports fans. You understand *why* a particular 15-second clip is likely to connect with the audience.

• Multitasking Under Pressure: You are capable of editing a clip while concurrently monitoring a live chat and drafting a tweet.

• Editorial Judgment: You comprehend *The Athletic’s* standards of journalism and can balance "viral" appeal with brand integrity.
