Senior Site Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Ensure that software systems are reliable, scalable, high-performing, and operationally efficient.

• Design, develop, and manage infrastructure and platform services that are highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant.

• Establish and uphold service level objectives (SLOs), service level indicators (SLIs), and error budgets across platform systems.

• Lead incident response initiatives for complex production outages; facilitate root-cause analysis and implement long-term remediation strategies.

• Create infrastructure automation and self-service tools to minimize operational challenges and enhance engineering productivity.

• Construct and sustain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release engineering processes.

• Design and oversee comprehensive monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting systems for distributed services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid foundation in computer science principles: data structures, algorithms, and system design.

• Familiarity with developing production-grade applications and services using Ruby and Ruby on Rails.

• Extensive expertise in Linux systems administration and troubleshooting in production environments.

• Significant experience managing cloud infrastructure at scale, especially within AWS environments.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud-native infrastructure patterns.

• Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

• Expertise in designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation systems.

• Comprehensive understanding of observability tools including Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or similar platforms.

• Strong knowledge of distributed systems reliability patterns such as redundancy, failover, autoscaling, rate limiting, and graceful degradation.

• Experience supporting distributed microservices architectures and event-driven systems.
