Senior Security Engineer, Security Incident Response Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage the comprehensive incident response for high-severity security events within a 24/7 global on-call framework, functioning during EMEA business hours.

• Create clear executive updates that keep stakeholders informed throughout incidents.

• Analyze complex security incidents across cloud environments, utilizing robust Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) methodologies.

• Collaborate with Signals Engineering to design and implement detection capabilities, which include SIEM use cases, alerting strategies, and telemetry pipelines.

• Develop and enhance automated and AI-assisted workflows to boost triage efficiency, investigation speed, and response uniformity.

• Work alongside Threat Intelligence to contextualize threats and enhance detection coverage.

• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and lead post-incident reviews to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation.

• Create and maintain runbooks, playbooks, and operational documentation.

• Engage cross-functionally (Engineering, Infrastructure, Legal, Product, Communications, etc.) during incidents and spearhead proactive initiatives (e.g., tabletops).

• Mentor fellow engineers and contribute to elevating the overall incident response maturity of the team.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in security incident response and investigations within cloud-first environments.

• Proficiency in using or administering Git/GitLab within a security or engineering context.

• Practical experience with SIEM, EDR, and/or detection engineering.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP.

• Understanding of threat intelligence and adversary tactics (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK).

• Experience in building or working with automation tools (e.g., Python, scripting, SOAR platforms).

• Interest or experience in utilizing AI/ML or data-driven techniques for detection, triage, or response processes.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; capable of functioning effectively during high-severity incidents.

• Exceptional written communication skills with a commitment to producing clear, actionable documentation.

• A growth-oriented mindset with a proactive stance on identifying and mitigating security risks.
