Senior Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• We are seeking our inaugural security-focused engineer.

• This role involves taking high-level directives (e.g., "identify the top five security-related vulnerabilities for AX") and driving them to successful outcomes.

• A successful candidate will help create a LanceDB platform that adheres to security best practices while fostering continuous collaboration with other engineers to enhance the security framework across all product areas.

• Responsibilities include selecting, deploying, and fine-tuning security tools across all pertinent repositories and environments to ensure comprehensive coverage.

• The engineer will identify and address security risks, including but not limited to cloud IAM, access controls, and product vulnerabilities.

• This position entails ownership of vulnerability management, overseeing our CVE program, and closely collaborating with other engineers on specific remediation efforts.

• The role will also involve supporting periodic evidence gathering and control testing to meet compliance obligations.

• The engineer will apply relevant industry trends, best practices, and specific vulnerabilities to our product.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience as a software engineer.

• Proven experience working on large-scale data platforms (e.g., databases, data infrastructure, ML/AI systems), with a focus on concurrency and multitenancy.

• Experience in developing encryption, authentication, and authorization features for high-throughput products.

• Familiarity with CSP stacks, including object storage security, disk/volume encryption, key rotation, and more.

• Demonstrated ability to own ambiguous projects with little guidance.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (capable of driving alignment across teams).

• Comfortable utilizing data (metrics, experiments, usage) to inform decision-making.

• Experience contributing to or collaborating with open-source communities.
