Senior Ruby on Rails Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain features within a contemporary Rails codebase.

• Take ownership of background and asynchronous workflows, focusing on retries, idempotency, throughput, and observability.

• Model, query, and enhance data within a document-oriented database environment.

• Create and manage HTTP APIs and third-party integrations, including webhooks, authentication, billing, and notifications.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in partnership with product and support teams.

• Enhance system reliability, performance, and operational safety.

• Contribute to the long-term health of the codebase through refactoring, testing enhancements, security practices, and diligent code reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• C1 English proficiency or equivalent.

• Senior-level, hands-on experience in building and operating production Ruby on Rails applications.

• Strong foundation in background job systems and asynchronous processing, addressing real-world operational challenges.

• Experience in designing and querying document-oriented data models with a focus on indexing and performance.

• Proven track record in building external-facing APIs with authentication, authorization, and rate limiting.

• Robust testing discipline and experience in diagnosing flaky or non-deterministic tests.

• Security-focused approach to application design and production operations.

• **Preferred Qualifications**

• Experience in high-growth startup environments.

• Experience in developing products utilizing LLMs or LLM-based agents, preferably using Langchain.

• Experience in training AI models, including building and cleaning datasets, establishing training pipelines, and evaluation benchmarks.

• Experience in creating code generation or editing solutions.

• A collaborative mindset with a history of influencing and enhancing development processes.

• ****Nice to Have: Email and Deliverability Domain**

• Proficiency in Go.

• Practical knowledge of email deliverability principles, including reputation, mailbox provider behavior, and handling bounces or deferrals.

• Familiarity with email authentication and DNS concepts such as SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and MX or TXT records.

• Understanding of SMTP mechanics, including handshakes, response codes, and safe retry strategies.

• Experience in identifying and managing low-quality or risky email data, such as disposable, role-based, typo, or catch-all addresses.

• Experience in implementing safeguards around email data handling, including redaction, privacy controls, and protections for non-production sends.

• Comfort with responsibly using AI-assisted development tools while maintaining strong engineering judgment, code quality, and test coverage.
