This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as a reliable research consultant for school districts, researchers, and internal HMH stakeholders.
• Assist partners in interpreting and effectively utilizing MAP Growth data and research evidence.
• Oversee research consulting projects from initial scoping to final delivery.
• Clarify partner inquiries, identify analytic methodologies, outline deliverables, carry out analyses, and convey results.
• Access, query, and manage large-scale assessment data within HMH’s Snowflake data environment.
• Utilize expertise in educational research, assessment, and research design to address complex questions from partners and colleagues.
• Transform technical research, data, and assessment concepts into clear and actionable recommendations.
• Create and present partner-focused presentations, technical consultations, custom analyses, and data visualizations.
• Collaborate with NWEA and HMH to address partner needs and develop reusable resources.
• Engage in and contribute to rigorous applied research utilizing large-scale assessment and education data.
• Communicate findings through research reports, policy briefs, practitioner briefs, presentations, data visualizations, and user-friendly products.
• Foster and maintain relationships with educators, district leaders, researchers, and HMH colleagues.
• Over 5 years of experience in conducting educational research and/or providing consultation in research, data, or assessment.
• Ph.D. in Education, Educational Measurement, Public Policy, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, or a related discipline.
• Strong background in quantitative research.
• Proven ability to select and implement methods suitable for applied research inquiries.
• Proficiency in statistical software such as R, Stata, Python, or similar tools.
• Strong SQL skills with experience in independently querying and working with large-scale datasets preferred.
• Familiarity with Tableau or other data visualization tools preferred.
• Experience in direct collaboration with educators, district or state leaders, or other stakeholders.
• Ability to translate complex research findings, analyses, and assessment concepts into actionable guidance for non-technical audiences.
• Experience in independently managing partner-facing projects from initial scoping through analysis and delivery.
• Experience conducting rigorous educational research using large-scale assessment or longitudinal data.
• Understanding of K–12 educational assessment and measurement.
• Knowledge of K–12 education policy and practice.
• Familiarity with research design and the strengths and limitations of data sources.
• Capability to navigate between technical analysis and partner-facing consultation.
• Ability to clarify ambiguous inquiries and suggest suitable analytic or research methodologies.
• Strong communication skills with audiences of varying expertise levels.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment regarding the appropriate uses and constraints of research and data.
• Capability to balance multiple consulting engagements and research responsibilities.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10–20% of the time.
• Experience with MAP Growth is preferred.
• Salary range of $120,000 to $130,000.
