Senior Research Scientist, AI – Workforce Intelligence

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversee the Ongoing Development of the Jobs Engine: Take ownership of the architecture, integrity, and continuous enhancement of Wonderlic’s AI job analysis system, which utilizes labor market data from O*NET, LinkedIn, Indeed, and other sources to derive cognitive complexity ratings, norm groups, and occupational interest profiles for a wide array of jobs.

• Serve as a Specialist in AI Implementation Throughout the Organization: Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and I-O psychologists to convert scientific requirements into AI-driven systems, ensuring these systems align with the standards the work necessitates.

• Champion Scientific Rigor: Implement I-O psychology principles - including adverse impact assessment, norm group creation, and evidence-based evaluation criteria - in every system you develop.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced degree in I-O Psychology, Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, or a closely related field (quantitative emphasis highly preferred); a doctoral degree is an advantage.

• Proven ML engineering experience with deployed, production-level systems - beyond just research or academic coursework.

• Experience utilizing modern NLP techniques on behavioral, assessment, or labor market data.

• Proven history of delivering work that is both technically robust and legally/professionally defensible.

• At least 3 years of practical industry experience; 5+ years is preferred.

• Experience at the convergence of I-O science and algorithmic fairness is highly favored.

• Familiarity with occupational taxonomies, vocational interests, or cognitive ability frameworks is a significant asset.
