This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct testing and routine maintenance on equipment within transmission and distribution substations.
• Evaluate electro-mechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor relaying systems.
• Assess pilot channel equipment, controls, and communications systems.
• Analyze and interpret substation schematics, including single-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel wiring diagrams, and layouts.
• Assist in the development of procedures and test plans for maintenance and construction projects.
• Examine and confirm relay voltage and current inputs, metering, alarms, function switches, and local/SCADA operations.
• Calibrate relays and execute local and SCADA trip testing.
• Diagnose and repair substation relaying and control equipment.
• Commission new substations along with relevant power, relaying, pilot channel, controls, and communications systems.
• Organize, schedule, and efficiently carry out testing activities without causing service interruptions.
• Offer technical project support to Field Service teams.
• Travel to client locations for about three weeks, with accommodation provided and a long weekend at home.
• At least 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing, and repairing substation relaying and control systems.
• Preferred experience in substation design, protection and control engineering, substation construction, commissioning, and SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing.
• Understanding of three-phase power systems, power system protection and control schemes, test equipment, and related software.
• Proficiency in using test equipment and tools/wiring.
• Capability to interpret wiring and elementary diagrams.
• Fundamental testing skills to carry out the specified responsibilities.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to rapidly learn and implement testing procedures for various types of substation equipment.
• Strong communication skills with diverse groups.
• Willingness to learn and apply client-specific switching procedures and safety protocols.
• Competence in referencing and completing assignments as outlined in relevant specifications.
• Capability to perform regular fieldwork in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, business acumen, and management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Proficient communication skills in English, including reading and writing, due to safety-related materials, documentation, and client interactions.
• Willingness to travel to client locations for approximately three weeks at a time.
• Sign-on/Relocation Bonus up to $10k.
