This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Jordan.
• Develop the fundamental computational modules for our pharmacometrics engine.
• Collaborate directly with internal software design processes, actively participating in and adhering to Mermaid.js UML and flow charts for architecture and pipelines.
• Create custom, highly efficient modules utilizing vectorized operations (numpy, pandas, attrs) to compute essential clinical metrics.
• Oversee the integration of Python models with a standardized R backend (via rpy2), securely exposing them through FastAPI and gRPC.
• Interpret and convert advanced mathematical equations into robust code, supported by rigorous unit testing against hand-calculated ‘golden’ datasets.
• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with a focus on computationally intensive, pure Python environments.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python: In-depth understanding of the Python Data Model, strict typing protocols (mypy), memory lifecycle management (GC, profiling via tracemalloc), and state management through immutability (attrs) and caching strategies (functools).
• Scientific Libraries: High-level proficiency in NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas for vectorization, data structures, and optimized mathematical execution.
• Math Translation & Unit Testing: Demonstrated ability to convert advanced mathematical equations and scientific pseudocode into efficient, rigorously unit-tested algorithms directly from logical specifications.
• System Documentation: High comfort level in reading from, building, and directly contributing to Mermaid.js UML and flow charts to inform architectural decisions.
• Experience in designing, maintaining, or scaling RESTful endpoints using FastAPI and configuring gRPC interfaces for efficient communication.
• Familiarity with R and previous experience using rpy2 (or similar FFI bridges) to invoke non-Python scientific kernels from a Python environment.
• Previous experience in life sciences, pharmacometrics, bioinformatics, quantitative finance, or fields involving rigorous numerical and mathematically validated software pipelines.
• Impact: Opportunity to create and deliver real-world effects for critically ill children.
• Flexibility: Flexible working policy that prioritizes team well-being and quality of work.
• Growth: Opportunities for professional development, mentorship, open-source contributions, and influencing our technical direction.
• Support and Culture: Independent HR, TOIL provisions, Employee Assistance Programme (ensuring personal and professional well-being), and structured parental leave packages.
