Senior Python Engineer, DataFeed Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain Python services for the ingestion, transformation, and distribution of sports data.

• Integrate with external sports data providers, managing variances in their models, formats, and update methodologies.

• Create robust pipelines for both near real-time and batch data processing.

• Enhance data validation, reconciliation, monitoring, alerting, and replay tools.

• Work on domain models related to events, competitions, participants, markets, odds, scores, and other sports entities.

• Investigate production issues, trace data discrepancies, and improve system observability.

• Collaborate with backend, product, trading, QA, and platform teams to ensure reliable data flows.

• Contribute to architectural decisions, conduct code reviews, establish technical standards, and provide mentorship within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of substantial production experience with Python.

• Proven experience in designing and managing backend services in a production environment.

• Strong experience with Django (not necessarily at an expert level) and skills in asynchronous programming (asyncio).

• Production experience with Apache Kafka.

• Solid understanding of APIs, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and data pipelines.

• Strong SQL proficiency and experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.

• Experience integrating with external APIs, data feeds, or third-party data providers.

• Ability to thoughtfully consider data accuracy, edge cases, and failure scenarios.

• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, alerting, and debugging in production systems.

• A senior ownership mindset: adept at dissecting ambiguous problems, making pragmatic technical choices, and communicating effectively.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and comfort with conducting code reviews.

• Openness to participating in on-call rotations.
