This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.
• Take ownership of and achieve quarterly goals for the team, guiding engineers through uncertainty to address complex, open-ended challenges and ensuring successful implementation.
• Work in partnership with Product Management, Design, and Analytics throughout the entire product development cycle.
• Engage in brainstorming sessions, outline technical limitations, and assist in assessing risks and trade-offs.
• Recognize project, process, technology, and business obstacles and spearhead solutions.
• Enhance service reliability and availability by establishing and tracking essential metrics.
• Be involved in incident management, operational excellence, and on-call responsibilities.
• Create and advocate for best practices in software design, architecture, and code evaluations.
• Cultivate a culture centered on quality, engineering excellence, and ownership.
• Mentor and assist engineers through constructive feedback, knowledge sharing, and leading by example.
• Over 4 years of experience in designing, developing, and delivering scalable backend systems utilizing Python, Kotlin, or similar programming languages.
• Proven experience in building and sustaining highly available distributed systems within cloud environments.
• Familiarity with AWS, MySQL, Spark, or equivalent technologies.
• Capability to define and implement technical plans for major features or system components.
• Emphasis on designing systems that are scalable, maintainable, and extensible.
• Experience in navigating large codebases and safely implementing significant changes.
• Knowledge of engineering best practices, automation, testing, and deployment methodologies.
• A mindset of ownership and dedication to continuous learning, professional development, and proactive feedback.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to collaborate with distributed and global engineering teams.
• Nice to have: experience with high-scale customer-facing platforms.
• Nice to have: understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
• Nice to have: familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and contemporary DevOps practices.
• Nice to have: experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.
