This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver internal and external reports on the financial outcomes of a portfolio/property.
• Compile the monthly financial statement packages for clients.
• Responsibilities include generating and posting journal entries to the general ledger, managing fixed asset depreciation and amortization schedules, conducting thorough reviews of the general ledger and income statement, reconciling bank statements, performing detailed reviews of property manager variance comments, and reconciling balance sheets.
• Ensure that deadlines for internal and external reporting are consistently met.
• Collaborate with Property Management staff to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the project’s financial performance.
• Frequently communicate through both verbal and written means with the property management team and the Property Manager(s).
• Engage with Clients as necessary on basic to intermediate concerns.
• Involve a supervisor or manager in cases of complex or advanced issues.
• Assist in the budgeting process and review expense reconciliations at a basic to intermediate level with minimal guidance from the manager.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports and analyses with limited oversight from the manager.
• Serve as a leader in internal and external customer service, aiding the supervisor/manager with more intricate issues.
• Share expertise with team members and act as a resource for Property Accountants.
• Prepare and file Sales & Use Tax returns, as necessary.
• Oversee and evaluate the cash accounts for each project/property; ensure the timely payment of utilities, taxes, mortgages, and owner distributions.
• Review and post cash receipts as required.
• Examine payables.
• Process vendor invoices for payment as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with SOC I requirements.
• Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
• 3-8 years of relevant accounting/reporting experience.
• Experience in the real estate industry is advantageous.
• Proven quantitative analytical and accounting skills appropriate to the level of experience.
• Intermediate understanding of accounting principles and the ability to apply them to job tasks.
• Capability to interact with clients and team members; excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written.
• Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and excel in a deadline-driven environment.
• Initiative in routine problem-solving and the ability to present potential solutions to the manager or supervisor for feedback on more complex issues or problems.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Intermediate experience with Yardi and/or MRI is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Accounting and relevant accounting work experience required.
