This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Manage the technical, programmatic, and administrative functions of Attendance as a Vital Sign (AVS), a nationwide initiative focused on the health and social determinants of chronic absenteeism.

• Provide mentorship to staff and oversee various teams.

• Direct domestic technical assistance, coaching, training sessions, workshops, and support at the district level.

• Independently lead AVS technical projects and initiatives.

• Conceptualize, design, and launch new program activities that align with the program’s objectives.

• Create and revise documents, work plans, reports, and presentations.

• Lead the development of budgets, resource distribution, staffing, and planning for levels of effort.

• Foster collaboration between program, finance, and administrative personnel.

• Engage with both internal and external stakeholders while ensuring adherence to JHU and donor guidelines.

• Utilize data to shape strategies, work plans, and program trajectories.

• Design and oversee team structures; supervise, coach, mentor, orient, and train staff members.

• Conduct quarterly performance check-ins and annual evaluations for supervisees.

• Ensure the quality of staff output and establish quality assurance processes and tools.

• Spearhead high-level strategy formation and execution.

• Enhance staff capabilities through the development of strategies, toolkits, communication materials, scripts, job aids, and needs assessments.

• Plan research, monitoring, and evaluation activities in collaboration with AVS faculty.

• Exhibit technical proficiency in school information systems, evidence-based attendance practices, and pertinent health issues.

• Lead center-wide initiatives, proposal creation, strategic partnerships, and donor engagement.

• Represent Johns Hopkins University at external meetings and events.

• Collaborate across JHU programs to address strategic influences impacting AVS.

• Pursue opportunities for leadership and management development while completing necessary training.

• Additional duties may be assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s Degree in a related discipline.

• Six years of relevant program management experience in public health or medicine.

• Additional educational qualifications may compensate for the required experience as per the JHU equivalency formula.

• Preferred leadership experience in a technical domain.

• Preferred management skills.

• Ability to independently manage technical, programmatic, and administrative responsibilities.

• Experience or capacity in strategy formulation, implementation, proposal development, partnership building, and donor engagement.

• Technical knowledge in pertinent areas such as school information systems, evidence-based attendance practices, or health domains.

• Capability to lead training sessions, workshops, presentations, technical assistance, and coaching activities.

• Responsibilities include supervision, coaching, mentoring, staff development, and conducting performance reviews.

• Compliance with JHU supervisory policies is required.

• Must complete at least two JHU training courses related to job responsibilities annually.

• Candidates who are selected must undergo a pre-employment background check.

• Faculty, staff, and students at Johns Hopkins must receive the seasonal flu vaccine, with exceptions for religious or medical reasons.
