• Oversee the delivery process for the Billing and Data teams by managing team backlogs, facilitating Agile ceremonies, and ensuring that work is well-defined, prioritized, and ready for engineering execution.
• Create comprehensive feature epics and user stories with clear acceptance criteria to provide engineering teams with the clarity necessary for effective delivery.
• Conduct and manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure that releases fulfill functional requirements, meet quality standards, and uphold platform integrity expectations — which includes writing and executing SQL queries directly in BigQuery for verifying data accuracy and the correctness of data pipelines.
• Organize release planning, draft detailed release notes, and manage internal communication regarding rollouts for both platforms.
• Work collaboratively with fellow Product Owners to manage dependencies and sequencing across shared initiatives.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to gain a thorough understanding of product strategy and vision, ensuring that tactical execution consistently aligns with business direction and stakeholder priorities.
• Partner with Engineering Managers to align resource capacity and integrate technical guidance into backlog planning, sequencing, and delivery decisions.
• Collaborate with the Program Manager to facilitate cross-functional coordination, ensuring crucial features are delivered with appropriate stakeholder alignment and organizational visibility.
• Define and validate Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) that deliver incremental value while aligning with NMI's strategic objectives.
• Provide product training and enablement for customer-facing teams, support, and other internal stakeholders.
• Ensure transparency by communicating upcoming tasks, progress, and timelines to stakeholders and executives.
• Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of NMI's five billing platforms: their architectures, business rules, interdependencies, and how they cater to different merchant and partner segments.
• Act as the primary point of contact for billing-related feature inquiries across engineering, finance, and operations stakeholders.
• Collaborate with finance and cross-functional teams to guarantee that billing operations are compliant, auditable, and accurately integrated across key systems (e.g., payment processors, CRMs, ERP systems).
• Translate intricate billing requirements from cross-functional stakeholders into well-defined, actionable user stories.
• Identify and flag platform-level risks, technical debt, and consolidation opportunities in collaboration with engineering leadership.
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the Data team's ingestion pipelines, transformation layers, and data artifact delivery on GCP and BigQuery.
• Serve as the primary contact for questions regarding the data platform, pipeline scope, and data artifact requirements from analytics and reporting stakeholders.
• Author and execute SQL queries against BigQuery as a fundamental part of UAT — validating pipeline outputs, confirming transformation accuracy, and ensuring data meets acceptance criteria prior to releases going live.
• Collaborate with data engineering to define and prioritize data models, views, and dashboards that satisfy stakeholder reporting needs.
• Advocate for data governance, lineage, and best practices in scalability, usability, and privacy-compliant data handling.
• 5+ years of experience in a Product Owner or Technical Product Manager role.
• Demonstrated ability to become the primary subject matter expert for the products and features you manage — possessing technical depth in addition to business context.
• Strong understanding of cloud-based data platforms, pipelines, and tools (e.g., BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, etc.).
• Proficiency in writing and executing SQL queries against BigQuery as part of UAT validation — ensuring pipeline outputs, transformation logic, and data accuracy align with acceptance criteria.
• Familiarity with Agile development frameworks and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Figma).
• Experience in conducting and managing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to guarantee product quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in coordinating software release cycles, QA processes, and documentation.
• Passion for understanding end users and translating insights into actionable product improvements.
• Experience with financial systems, billing platforms, or accounting modules in a SaaS or fintech environment (Nice to Have).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred) (Nice to Have).
• Experience in data governance or privacy-compliant data handling (GDPR, CCPA) (Nice to Have).
• Technical background (CS degree or equivalent experience) is a plus (Nice to Have).
