This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• You will oversee the entire product lifecycle of the Newsela Supplemental ELA product line, from opportunity assessment and ideation to development, market launch, and continuous updates based on user feedback.
• Ensure that ELA products align with Newsela's strategic goals and enhance instructional outcomes while adhering to budget, timeline, and quality standards.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the market: act as the subject matter expert on market trends, customer requirements, competitive products, and innovative instructional practices to pinpoint opportunities for product growth, expansion, and differentiation.
• Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to shape and implement the Supplemental ELS strategy by identifying market opportunities, evaluating customer needs, assessing risks, and proposing product investments.
• Utilize qualitative and quantitative data to guide product direction and decisions, collecting insights about district and user requirements through interviews, customer visits, and analytics services.
• Establish success metrics and track product performance, including customer adoption, engagement, retention, instructional outcomes, and business impact, using insights to inform future roadmap decisions.
• Work alongside Content, Product Marketing, and other key stakeholders to prioritize roadmap investments, state standards updates, and new product opportunities, ensuring alignment with customer needs, state adoption timelines, and business objectives.
• 5-7 years of experience in product management within K-12 education, including direct involvement in edtech, with a profound understanding of the ELA market.
• Proven track record of managing the lifecycle of digital educational products or features.
• Established experience in collaborating with and leading cross-functional teams, particularly in content, product, marketing, and sales.
• Experience in developing business cases to enhance the value of a product portfolio, which includes conducting market analysis, competitive positioning, and aligning with corporate strategic goals.
• Experience interacting with K-12 administrators, teachers, and students to gather insights and ensure product-market fit, integrating research into product enhancements.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills; demonstrated capability to take ownership and drive decision-making within a matrixed organization.
• Strong data analysis and interpretation skills for examining trends, assessing product performance, and making data-informed decisions.
• Familiarity with K-12 ELA instructional trends and practices such as Science of Reading, Knowledge-building curricula, MTSS, or ELD.
• Solid understanding of budget management, financial forecasting, and analysis to ensure fiscal responsibility across various product lines.
• Proficiency in tools such as Jira, Asana, or Trello for tracking project timelines and managing inter-departmental dependencies.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
